On October 22, 2019, young men were seen wrestling at a club in Kabul, Afghanistan, highlighting a resilient aspect of life in the city despite ongoing challenges. The Maiwand Wrestling Club, located in an ethnic Hazara neighborhood, had recently rebuilt after suffering a devastating bombing by ISIS that killed and injured many wrestlers the previous year. The club has since experienced a resurgence, with participation increasing significantly. As many as 400 wrestlers train daily, demonstrating their determination to continue their sport and defy the violence that has affected their community. The atmosphere in the gym is one of camaraderie and strength, as these young men not only engage in physical competition but also find a sense of purpose and community amidst adversity. The rebuilding of the Maiwand Wrestling Club was supported by international donations, reflecting a global commitment to help Afghan youth pursue healthy activities and build a better future. The wrestlers' dedication to their sport serves as a powerful statement against the threats they face, embodying resilience and hope for a more peaceful Afghanistan.

Clowes purchases avocados from these farmers, enabling them to shift from traditional crops like maize and beans to more lucrative avocado cultivation. This initiative not only supports local agriculture but also provides farmers with better income opportunities. Clowes' approach has created a symbiotic relationship with the community, allowing farmers to benefit from the fertile volcanic soil of Mount Rungwe, which is considered one of the most productive areas for avocado farming in Tanzania. Through this model, farmers like Nyale are empowered to improve their livelihoods while contributing to the growing avocado market both locally and internationally.
