Echoes of Violence: The Al-Shabaab Threat in Somalia

The situation in Mogadishu regarding Al-Shabaab remains dire, with the militant group continuing to launch sophisticated attacks against security forces and civilians. In February 2024, Al-Shabaab infiltrated an Emirati-run military base in the city, resulting in the deaths of at least 18 soldiers, which underscored the vulnerabilities within Somali security forces.
