Germany faces significant challenges with illegal waste disposal, particularly in Poland and the Czech Republic, where large quantities of German waste are being dumped. Recent incidents, such as a fire at a landfill in Zielona Gora, have highlighted the environmental hazards posed by this illegal activity, prompting the Polish Ministry of Climate to file a complaint with the European Commission regarding 35,000 tons of illegally transported waste from Germany. This waste, often collected and separated for recycling in Germany, ends up in makeshift landfills, contaminating air and soil and posing serious ecological risks.
